    Dear downloaders,

we have no excuses. This month the mag came out so late it is almost next month.

Sorry, we will strive to be more punctual from now on.

    遅くなってしまいました。。。ごめん!

Anyway, we have the april issue of ABACO here.

Tokyo has seen the cherry blooming this month. In the parks, on the streets, everything was pink.
This spring issue is hosting an article by Francesca Gilli (la Franka), a precious friend now living in Palestine. We are very happy of this contribution, since we miss the Mediterranean countries sometimes: their air and their light.
This month we are presenting you another video artist and photographer: Nao Suzuki, Please enjoy her pictures as we did.

Thank you very much for the mails you keep sending us, we live on your appreciation!

Godetevi questo nuovo numero di ABACO magazine e la primavera.

    トイレその後に。せっけん

After some years spent in Tokyo, Japan itself becomes something usual. Language, aesthetics, colors, shapes: they all become something expected, repetitive.

Yet, some days ago I found something that reminded of my image of Japan before even thinking of coming here: this spray.

Its looks are nostalgic to me, the shiny toilet makes me smile.

Dedicated to the kriophobic Italian mothers.

This morning it was snowing, big flakes from the sky. Now the snow turned into rain and it is colder than before, when it was snowing. I get in the tube and sitting in front of me there is a boy, maybe around 17, dressed like he was at the beach in July. Short pants, a light T-shirt, beach sandals with no socks. The only item related to today’s weather is a vinyl umbrella.
On the almost empty train that lets in the freezing air at every station an unknown guy screams “つよっ!”. (You are strong!). I have always been sceptical about the cliché that describes Japanese as samurais, champions of self-denial virtue, and yet seeing this boy today makes me reconsider my opinion about this basically hedonistic country.
Once a friend told me that in his elementary school there was a kid that for a whole year has never been seen wearing anything heavier than short pants and T-shirt. At the year-end ceremony he was awarded a medal, like a GAMAN campaign medal.
Anyway, I don’t know why today’s boy was dressed like that, sitting down and reading a book, like he had stumbled in from a different season, behaving like it was perfectly normal, without the smallest shiver, surrounded by down jacket and coats.
Anyway, I think too that he is strong!

This month we hope to make you interested in the artists we are introducing, we really like them, and that’s basically the reason why we publish Abaco: sharing stuff we like with you.
